Y'know, given the current attitude of 'Mother Millfolk' (NOT Lady Millfolk), I have to wonder how Lord Millfolk turned out as well as he did. She has obviously forgotten everything she ever knew about raising kits (if she ever knew it in the first place).

Actually, the term is 'kenning', and there was a really good discussion thread about this only a couple of months ago. Just scroll backwards through the topics, and you should see it. If I can find the exact title of the thread, I will post it here.

There could be an effect similar to chillbumps, where the fur sticks straight out and makes the skin (and blush) visible. I know that some animals see different wavelengths of light than humans - maybe it's Ralph's way of showing that animals can 'see' the increased heat of the blush through the fur...
