Re: Christmas 2021

Very nice! Maybe next year, my comic will be developed enough to actually be worth jamming.

Re: If It Weren't for Keenspace ...

I feel like I never really made much of the platform or the community here. It's a great place, and the genuine connection I always understood was here is the reason I'm still lurking, even now. But that's a pretty common failing on my part -- recognizing potential, but not really reaching it. My co...

Re: How do you write?

I start with storyboards. I don't see much reason to script for a visual medium, since I work on my own. I'm curious, though - what's the Marvel Method? I tried looking it up, but I couldn't really find a definitive answer. It's a complex system where you do the lion's share of the work, and Stan Le...

Re: Gone Too Soon...

Ballad , by David Nytra (under the pen name "deadmouse") was absolutely gorgeous, and still one of my favorite comics of all time. It disappeared with the closure of Modern Tales, and now I wish I had saved every page. He's since gone on to make a couple of beautifully-illustrated children's books ...

Re: So... what's new with you guys?

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Good! Life-wise, there isn't much for me to report. I'm just living quietly in farm country. Art-wise, I'm doing well, and staying productive. I've managed to find a nice niche as a landscape and wildlife painter. It's an area of artmaking I'd never thought I'd be...

Re: the last thread of us

I'm @ziplequick on Instagram, if anyone is into that. Also, I just started posting my old comics on Tapastic, and am working on a new comic to debut after New Year (or, rather, I'm giving the ol' HD Remake treatment to one of my oldest comics.) My Tapastic page is HERE . I really do dig the social-m...

Re: the last thread of us

I was never cool enough to hang out with all you cool kids, and I never really got the hang of Twitter or Tumblr. I'm more into Reddit (even though Reddit's collective taste in comics is absolute shit) and Instagram. Instagram suits me best, and I'm slowly building a following, while all my posts ge...

Real World Success!

I just saw Starline talking about Game of Thrones with Daniel O'Brien on a Cracked video , and remembered when she hung around here, lo, those many years ago. Comic Genesis may have been totally abandoned and left to rot, but it served as a pretty potent talent incubator back in the day, so that go...

LINE Webtoon?

http://www.webtoons.com

I've been noticing this site on the rise as the new webcomic hub. Anyone use it? Anyone have thoughts on it?

Re: Speed drawing

Yeah, actually I do. Or I have done. I'm currently wrestling with trying to get my copy of Premiere working again since a recent update to Windows 10. Not that I'm particularly good at attracting viewers, but I watch a lot of speed drawing videos, too. Based on what I see from others and what little...

Re: Ideas for next-level webcomics journalism

Is it really all that necessary any longer to make a distinction between comics on the web and comics found in other formats?

I bet it was the Super Swift fanart that put it over the top for her. How could a person resist that sort of coolness?

Re: Doodles 12: Just like clockwork.

Getting ever more comfortable with computers as drawing tools, and working out some methods to make it look all pretty and interesting. I think I'm getting somewhere. I like this colored hatching over watercolor thing I've stumbled upon. http://i.imgur.com/Q4iMD41.jpg Also. Manga Studio 5 is just aw...

Re: Looking for an artist.

This here forum is pretty damned dead, and those of us zombies who are still around generally can't even be assed to work on their own projects, let alone someone else's. I don't know where to point you to find a collaborator. Maybe deviantART or Reddit? Are there even active webcomic community site...

Re: Anyone use Manga Studio?

melaredblu did a write-up on it. http://www.webcomicpolice.com/2014/04/manga-studio-made-with-comic-creators.html This breakdown of the program actually gave me the final push to get the program. I just got it today, and I have to say, straight out of the box, I already like it. It does feel more i...

Anyone use Manga Studio?

I'm looking into it, and I have to say it's looking pretty dang intriguing just as a drawing program, let alone as its intended purpose for making comic pages. Anyone have experience with it?
