Schlock Mercenary needs a colorist...

Here's the problem. I got promoted at work, and the promotion is going to entail me doing MORE work on things other than Schlock. Coloring the comics currently takes me between two and four hours per week, and while I know that doesn't sound like a lot, it's all the time I can spare. That means that...

Well, I get it now. And I'm not worried at having lowered my coolness factor. See, I'm working on HUMILITY now (cool is so passé)...

Sixth sheik... sick sheep... jeep sheet... It's obviously leading up to SOMETHING similar that ol' BJ can't or won't say on the phone, but I can't figure it out. All I can think of is the horrible math-pun-riddle. "If you have twenty sick sheep and one of them dies, how many do you have left?" Natur...

Well, it looks much better now.<P>I seldom draw wide enough pictures to have to worry about the intersection of vanishing point lines. Thus I wouldn't have said anything except that the picture was playing with my eyes in a weird way. Good fix, Jim.<P>--Howard

Okay, Jim... I realize that I shouldn't be finding fault, but something in <A HREF="http://miracle.keenspace.com/d/20020111.html">today's strip</A> bothered me. The left side of the room shows a baseboard, which, if followed to the vanishing point, would pass one or two feet BENEATH the stairs, whic...

Woo! Loved it.<P>I kept waiting for someone to say "Release the hounds," and no-one ever did. Now THAT's comedy. <P>And the bit about escaping 'unhounded'... oh my, did I ever chortle. Thanks, Burke!<P>--Howard

I went to work as a warlock today (tunic, cloak, staff). My brother, who does NOT work where I do, shaved his head and grew a goatee while I was not paying attention, and came to visit me dressed as me.<P>It was stunning. Wow. My co-workers were amazed.<P>--Howard

I looked for an email link so I could send this privately, but didn't find one. I followed a link from ROCR (banner exchange, methinks) and found your strip. Nice artwork! I really like the "watercolor" feel you've managed to achieve.<P>Seriously, it looks great. Keep up the good work.<P>--Howard <A...

I just thought I'd say that the thing I loved about the squeegee strip was the foreshortening. Lee doesn't use that trick much, but it REALLY livened the strip up for me.<P>Oh, and I laughed out loud, too. But that's pretty much par for the course here. Great work, Lee!<P>--Howard

I thought about teaming up with an artist buddy of mine back in '95 and doing a comic book on the Internet, but we never really got anything off the ground. In fact, I completely forgot I'd had the idea until I was 3 months in to <A HREF="http://www.schlockmercenary.com"><I>Schlock Mercenary</I></A>...

The writing and the drawing are very, very separate for me. I'll script as many as 7 strips in one sitting, and go back to those scripts over the course of a few days and refine the wording. During that process the stuff I want to see along with the dialog and narrative begins to take shape behind m...
