I wasn't going to pipe back in, but you mentioned them, so I thought this might be somewhat appropriate.

Australia Day! :)
Happy Australia to everyone, especially any lingering Aussies lurking around the forum! Time to eat barbecued lamb chops, sink a beer, play cricket on the beach or in the backyard and take a four day weekend because tomorrow is Friday and that means the great Australian notion of 'Taking A Sickie'. ...

1111 strips - School Spirit
G'day. I know I had a minor milestone of 1100 strips just recently, but c'mon! One thousand, one hundred and eleven strips! A whole row of ones! Eleventy eleven! Now THAT'S a unique milestone number I'll never get to see again, eh? www.schoolspiritcomic.com So yeah... that's my post for today! Come ...

Re: Awkward things you might say as an artist
Nah, I never have anyone around when I'm working on the strip, so the best I could contribute would be various comments to the dog to stop trying to jump on my lap, bury his chew toy under the desk, or attempt to get me to play 'that game where I run around barking and you get frustrated'. I did end...

Re: So, THIS is why artists charge the way they do!
I should possibly mention here that I don't spend lots of money on awesome art supplies. But that doesn't mean it would be a waste of money if I did! :) I've only just in the last few months started using Sharpie pens instead of whatever fine liner I could find (probably because the fine liners I li...

Re: So, THIS is why artists charge the way they do!
Before this thread becomes one big bitchfest though (not that I don't love to bitch) I think the real reason people have trouble valuing art is because there is no direct correlation between the value of a piece and how much work goes into it (or is perceived to go into it.) As people who spend a lo...

Re: Need Art for Occupy!
The Occupy thing is still going on? Our news got tired of it weeks ago and we've heard nothing since. Oh yeah, our occupy movements down here were a joke. Of course they were. We don't have a 99% for them to protest on behalf of. We have something more like 20% of the population own 60% of the weal...

Living in the past, all of you (except RobboAKAScooby - hooray for same timezones!)! I have no plans for New Year's. It's a year away again already.

Re: Secret Santa 2011
I could have done your other one... but the link banner has a swear word in it... so... sort of cut that one out right from the start. At least Flying Tigers has a name that I can put up on my site!
And Casper deserved what? The kiss from Chastity, or the boobs on the girls?

Re: Secret Santa 2011
Aw, Scooby, thanks! At long last a not-so-hidden kiss for Casper behind the toilet block with a few friendly onlookers! I do believe that this is the first time the girls have ever been drawn with boobs, too! :D Thanks! I think this might be my first successful CG Secret Santa thingy where I've got ...

Re: How much swearing?
They hear it and worse all the time and often from their mates, yes.
But personally, I'd pull back from using it unless you had to. Swearing usually just means you're not clever enough to show the emotion a better way.
Usually.
Sometimes a well placed swear word can absolutely make a scene too.

Re: School Spirit - End of year request and update change
The day has arrived. School Spirit has reached 1100 strips. That's just like the 100 strip milestone, except this time there's already a thousand strips in front of them!
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: Which character represents you?
Well, I'll be honest.
Casper is probably me.
Cody (and now Jackson) are the me's I would have liked to have been had I the guts to cut loose a bit.
Otherwise, most of the kids are amalgamations of personalities, phrases, actions and little perspectives of the decade's worth of kids I've taught.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?
I'm keeping up with seven updates a week for the moment, which is a bit of a surprise to me how consistent I've managed to keep them, but also a relief to get the storyline and the 1100th milestone up before the end of the year. So that's all good. Which has left me wondering if I could upgrade to f...
