Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

Hi everybody! It's been...*checks notes, realizes they're all blank* a long time. I've been a pretty terrible member of this community, as I haven't checked these forums in what has certainly been years, and a lot has happened in my life and in Steel Salvation, but I'm still plugging away at it and ...

Re: How do you write?

Whenever I write anything, be it comics, short stories, novels, or film/stage scripts, I always spend at least a couple months mapping everything out in my head before I even start writing. I still make a ton of revisions as I actually begin to physically put the story together, but I like to at lea...

Re: So... what's new with you guys?

It's been a long, long time since I've stopped by these forums, so I figured this thread was as good a place as any to say hello again. So hi! I've spent the last two years getting a credential and a job as a high school teacher (somehow I got roped into teaching drama even though I've never even ta...

Re: Компания Тепло и Уют

I've done group projects, and I see them as being a major pain in the ass. The main reason I'm not making comics anymore is that I've realized I don't like drawing and I'm too antisocial to collaborate. But it sounds like you pretty much either have to just accept it and go on hiatus, or try to be ...

Re: W.A.Y. 2015

Wow, those pages look awful at 72 ppi. I talked to our graphic designer about the resolution thing and he said that computer screens don't display a noticeable difference between 72 and 300 ppi. He said that 300 ppi would be more useful for print, but since our comic will likely never end up in prin...

Re: W.A.Y. 2015

overall: Correcting the lettering and resolution should be top priorities, and I'd say that the comic's just not worth reading until those two issues are addressed. While the new artist is way better than the previous one, the comic isn't really taking advantage of him since the art looks pretty ba...

Re: W.A.Y. 2015

I've already reviewed this part of Freakboy, but not as a narrative, so here goes: The orange gleam of sunset fell over Cykta, washed by dust storms until all color had been bleached from its rays. A deeper gray settled over the highway, piled high on both sides with machine corpses, cars, and bones...

Re: W.A.Y. 2015 ideas

I was actually going to opt out of W.A.Y. this year because I know I don't have the time to commit to full reviews, so the short critique idea is actually perfect for me. I also like Cuddly's super dorky addition to that idea, probably because I'm super dorky. Having Roger critique comics with Dy-Ga...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

I stopped checking the forums every morning as part of my waking up routine because there was never anything new for weeks and then stumbled by after a few days only to find ACTIVITY and it was great  I'm so glad to hear that you guys are on the up-and-up. I was thinking about SS recently. I h...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

I think it's funny how quickly the activity around here picked up as soon as someone new posted. It's like none of us want to give up on this forum, so we all just go into lurker mode periodically until something new entices us out of our burrows  So, Steel Salvation traffic is going up. We've ...

Re: Looking for an artist.

We just hired an artist not too long ago, and in addition to hitting up deviantart (where we got most of our responses), I posted the job offer on the Webcomic Underdogs forum (where we found our current inker/shader). You can find the forum here: http://www.webcomicunderdogs.com/forum/ I'd say make...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

I dunno, mini waterfalls sound kinda fun, as long as they're not inside your home. Then again, I'm from California, where it's a Big Deal if it rains for more than half a day.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

I don't think so. He said some water got into his building, but the worst that happened was the internet and electricity going out. He lives in Malaysia, so they're generally prepared for monsoons, but this one was apparently the worst in 30 years. Fortunately, it hit the other half of the country m...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

Nevermind, I just heard from him tonight. He didn't drop off the face of the earth, but a flash flood nearly washed him off of it. He's been without power for days, and things are just now starting to get back to normal.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

The good news is, we've finally launched Part 2! http://www.steelsalvationcomic.com/pages/strippage/a2-01c.html The bad news is, our new artist seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth. He's been really good about communication so far but it's been over a week since I last heard from him. He ...

Re: Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays!!!

Merry Christmas, CG friends! We've been hard at work on launching part 2 of Steel Salvation (which has become the comic that it is today thanks to all of you guys), but we got a piece of Christmas fan art from the gift exchange on the Webcomic Underdogs forum, so here's our Christmas contribution, c...

Man, I hate those nosy ass werewolves. Always up in my business.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

Okay, so that's one for no buffers, to be substituted by strapping on goggles, slamming into a wall, and presumably passing out for weeks while your readership assumes you're dead  Alex actually came up with a plan to handle the launch of Part 2, and I think it'll allow me to keep my sanity. St...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

Ah yes, inertia, my oldest frenemy. Lately for me I can't stop moving things to relax, but that will all be over soon. Inertia is, of course, the bane of sloths everywhere. In other news, welcome back! I remember No Scrying was the very first comic I reviewed for WAY, and you've just reminded me to...

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

Yeah, I have to wonder if he preferred the comedic, cartoonish aspects of our story over the serious bits, and that's why he liked the old style so much. Unfortunately for him, Steel Salvation was always meant to be a serious story with some comic relief, and not the other way around. It's definitel...
