Re: 20 Years

I feel very much the same way. There's something about the forums we shared here that simply can't be replicated on more modern social media platforms. And yet somehow, it's been replaced by them, and it's a shame. I remember meeting you in person up in the CN Expo Toronto back in 2006, when about t...

Re: What news??

I've got a happy family living in Omaha with two kids, a daughter 10 and son 7. All four grandparents still with us, in relatively good health, and living a few minutes away, which is wonderful. Mostly enjoying life and keeping friends and family updated via social media (those who haven't unfriende...

Re: Introduction Thread - Welcome to the New and Old

*randomly pops in*

I miss you guys. How many of y'all were around when this thing happened? It was almost fifteen years ago. Social media is a cesspool and will never replace the fun mix of camaraderie we had here.

Re: How are you doing, comic-wise?

We are fast approaching the ten-year anniversary of this thread. That's something. I'm taking another brief hiatus from my comic for the time being, but I've been drawing fairly regularly for the past couple of decades. Somehow my story just couldn't keep up with the calendar. Cortland has become Ou...

Re: How do you write?

Am I the only one, when coming back to the message board, finds it weird to not be able to 'like' posts. Its like I feel broken. What I find funner is that we can list our handles for AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ, and Jabber on our profiles here, but not Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. Because ...

So where does the artwork go when we're done? I can barely remember how these things work.

I might be interested, depending on how this works. It's been so long I may not remember.

Re: How do you write?

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do this. Currently, my scripts consist entirely of dialog between characters, which I then use to sketch thumbnails of each strip to determine how to frame each panel (so the character speaking first is positioned on the left, etc.) One immensely helpfu...

Nobody seems to have mentioned Linkara. My brothers discovered his videos a few years ago, and my reaction was, "Wait, how do you know THAT guy?"

Re: If It Weren't for Keenspace ...

I wouldn't have visited Toronto, London, St. Louis, or Nashville. I wouldn't have gotten into swing dancing for my wife Vivian or had our two kids. In short, I would be stuck in the Pottersville universe from It's a Wonderful Life.

My Christmas, you wonderful old Keenspace!

Wow, I miss you guys. The last time I saw many of you was about a decade ago in St. Louis. Since then, I got married and had a couple kids (Hannah, who just turned 6, and Aaron who's 3). I'm still living in Omaha and enjoying every minute of it. I have a blog to update the world on my boring life. C...

Re: What do you think of accents?

In the comics I've read, dialect is only an issue if I actually have to stop reading and start translating. Adding a "y'all" or replacing the G with an apostrophe for words ending in "ing" usually don't have that effect.

I think I gradually got more and more tired of my comic and then brought it in for a landing when I became a dad a few months ago. Currently, I'm OK with not drawing anything.

Re: I want to add a gallery, what do you use?

I absolutely love Lightbox 2 — it's the easiest possible way to drop several images into a page and click through them. Of course, you still have to go through the hassle of creating thumbnails, if you want them.
