The speed lines over the guy's head made me feel like he wasn't directly under the arm. To me it looks like they're in front of the arm, so his head is too and he doesn't really need to duck.

Flash also means readers can't bookmark a page. If someone reads 40 pages and then leaves, when they come back they'll have to press the "Next Comic" button 40 times. And the problem gets worse if you have one of those comics that's around for years and has hundreds of pages.

And literally a few minutes after I post that, I get the next e-mail. Patience usually doesn't come with instant rewards. :)

OK, new problem. I got the e-mail asking me to enter a code, and I saw the message saying that it would take up to 72 more hours for the comic to be ready. That was 5 days ago, and nothing new has happened. Am I remembering the 72 hour part wrong?

No comic confirmation

Edit: I had a help request up, but never mind. I looked through the thread and saw something else to try. I seem to have it working now, so thanks for the help.

Yeah, that was basically the backup plan if I was told not to do my original plan.

I already had a storyline dropdown on my old site. It worked very well for what it did. The problem is, I pretty much want the new run to be a fresh start. Mainly because my early art stinks. Not that my current stuff is "good", but it's not offensively ugly like my first run. So, I want **first_com...

I believe this will happen just by doing a full update.

Kisai, is this OK?

Here's what I have in mind: 1) Get new keenspace account. The sample comic will be the first comic in the new run of my comic series. 2) Once I have the new account, transfer the archives of the last run of the series to the new account. 3) Put new comic in the old account. 4) On the old account (wh...

You would? I thought the idea was that the subcomic was tied into the same day as the regular comic. Wouldn't everything be on the same page, thus needing only one set of prev/next/first/last tags?

The more I think about the subcomic idea, the more I think it's perfect. I just realized that added extra rants like http://penny-arcade.com is easy. You don't even have to edit the old file, you just throw a sub20041113b.txt into the comics directory. Then it would stack right under the first one. :)

todays_subcomic? So basically any day could have 2 comics in seperate places on the page? But you can put anything in either of them, like you can put anything in todays_comic already?

Wow. That's more powerful than what I was requesting. Woohoo!

Thanks for looking into this stuff, guys. :)

Hmmm. I don't see anything like comic_news in the taglossery. http://maniacaladvantage.keenspace.com/keenwork/updated_taglossary.html I did notice the storylinestart tag, which works almost like chapter buttons, but not quite. This kinda implies to me that the work for chapter buttons is already par...

Yes, people could do some extra work. People could set up their websites in nonobvious ways and learn some extra html tricks. Before I ever made this request I figured out how I could do everything that you guys have suggested. People could also just use the calendar *as is*. People could forget cha...

Egotistical? Only if the rants are egotistical themselves. Again, Count Your Sheep is a good example. The coments that Adis puts with each comic are an interesting little insight into the development of the comic. Mac Hall and Penny Arcade also archive the things that are written up for each comic. ...

The **include** method doesn't work very well if you want to keep your rants in your archives. Careful div use can allow you to work around this, but you have to make some odd choices on how you want to layout your stuff. Thus, very few comics doing anything more than an **include** that only shows ...

I would like to request 2 new tags: Rant and RantDate Right now you can make a file named 20041110.jpg and another named 20041110a.txt. The txt file will be right below the comic image. This isn't a great way to have a rant tied to a comic page. Most good looking comic sights have the rant in its ow...

I'm sure this won't change anything, but I just wanted to mention that the term "fair use" does not apply to sprite comics in any way, shape, or form. Fair use is meant to allow a sampling of someone else's work. If you write a 2 page magazine article and quote one paragraph of a book, that's fair u...
