Re: The forum looks different now
Ever go back and tour a home you lived in as a child? That weird sense of "I know all of this and should and kind of do but it's also all new and different"? That's me.

SPAM...
Yes, there is spam. Yes, there is a lot, a whole lot, of it. eleven thousand plus posts as far as I can see. I've poked the Admins in the Moderator forum. I tried to delete it but there's just godawful overwhelming amounts. The panel I have access to lets me take out 20 at a time. And it's slow.

Re: Is anyone actually still taking care of CG?
I don't know... "Party like it's 2005" sounds like a pretty good get-together slogan. As for CG - I can't speak for the admins or other mods at all - aside from McDuffies occasionally showing up in my facebook feed, I've long since lost contact with all the people with authority here. It's too bad, ...

Re: Wrong Store Tax? Warning: Math
Heh. Simpler, but how do you keep your hordes of tax accountants fed then? Tell me that? Without a complex system of taxation, you can't possibly manage to feed and clothe all those people who have no real skills other than the ability to understand tens of thousands of pages of complex tax code!

Hopped on and found five spam threads to lock and move. I don't know why that would make me happy, but for some odd reason it did.

That is because Nethack is awesome. And now so fantastically complex that only people who grew up with it have any hope of ever fully comprehending it.

As a rule, you should keep your domain name paid up if you ever plan to use it again.
Someone snagged reasonedcognition.com and actually is using it for a Trust and Mortgage business - I wonder if they get any email about my webcomic.

Re: Somebody know anything about usenet?
This thread reminds me of my war dialing days, looking for modems in local exchanges in the hopes of finding an open line to see what it was connected to. Usenet still exists. It's free. I'm not aware of there being any companies you would "buy" it from, but if one exists, I'd like to get their cust...

Re: Wrong Store Tax? Warning: Math
Sales tax is not so simple. There are products that are not subject to sales tax. There are products that are subject to some taxes but not others, products that are subject to additional taxation, products that are subject to sales tax only under certain conditions (frozen meal - no sales tax; froz...

I still exist. Besides what Beth said earlier, I now own a lime tree. Mmm. Limes. I am still actively beating science into people. If I'm less enthusiastic it is only because I am more busy. I had to explain to someone that no, the nuclear power plant in Japan didn't "almost blow up like in that mov...
