Web links for 2007

You have to make these links open up in a new window. As it is now, you click on the link and if you look at anything on the site, you have to hit the back button 10-20 100 times. You can exit everything and re enter WCCA and then click the 2007 list, and then find where you were again, but having t...

Animated trailer preview

Here's a peek at the animated trailer we're doing for a Macromedia con in Nov. The animation is done in Flash, the clouds and smoke were done in photoshop and imported into flash as png files. There are 8 different connection speed to pick from when streaming it. It was cool to work on a trailer for...

There's also a different texture to the wacom surface than pen to paper. It's harder to turn the tablet to change the direction of your cross hatch than it is with paper because you can't immediately see where you last made your marks. You know you can simply but a piece of paper over the tablet an...

People were just too awed by your greatness. Ha! I wouldn't say that :) ... But page layouts and paneling is something we work hard on. The Newest page I restory-boarded out the last frame about 8 times and still had to rework it when the page was half way finished. Sometimes just the storyboards t...

The only thing I do on the computer is add in dialogue. Everything else is down by hand, including all the colouring. Why do poeple think if you draw on a wacom tablet into a computer it isn't drawing by hand? The computer doesn't draw the pictures for you, you have to draw on the tablet like you d...

I'm sure faub just forgot about us :) ... We're in the middle of an action scene. We don't use speed lines though... I spend a lot of time working on the page layouts before the final pages are drawn in. A good page layout and paneling can add a lot to an action scene. I don't over power the reader ...

I like the last pics. It doesn't make much of a difference in the long run if you use color or B&W, as long as the end result looks good.

Comic Sound Effect resources? Any tips?

We spent a lot of time working on the skies and lighting effect on these two pages. I think over all they worked out very well. The Sound effects were a bit harder to incorperate into the frames. We tried to fade them out and use similar colors so they wouldn't detract from the pictures. Did it work...

The MG with the waterjacket looks like a Vickers to me. Used by the Brits in WWI and II. Am I right? What do I win? As for the portable machine gun I'm still stumped... That's because for the most part the squad's MG is made up. The back end's based off a MG-42, but the front I made up. I sort of w...

the drawings in flash but that flash has a distinct look to it. Lines that end in perfect semi-circles for example. Most of your lines taper as if they were done using a brush. It's a very nice effect and it adds something to the drawing. The perfect semicircle ending doesn't have the same quality ...

One thing I've always meant to point out- there seems to be an inconsistency in the power of those sniper rifles. When Inessa was shot and dropped the pen, you weren't even aware that she'd been shot. But in the other panel where Holly (and before that the cute-looking blond guy) get shot, they get...

6 Page Action Sequence (C&C)Please

Here's our latest action scene. We messed around a bit with tracers and a few different types of sound effects. A lot of time way spent trying to create interesting angles and effects to try to bring the action to life. C&C is welcome. CB http://www.alpha-shade.com/banners/AS_468x60_2.jpg http://www...

The way we shade our characters, objects and backgrounds is very simple and only take a minute or two to do. Actually our comic's named after our shading style "Alpha-Shade". We use flash MX for about 95% of the art. After the characters/objects are colored in, we set up one or two more layers on to...

Pencil + Paper. Every time. I don't use either. You wouldn't get the wonderful look of your comic if you did Faub  I use flashMX, it's easy even for an idiot like me  99% of our comic is done in flash. Rpin, your comic looks good too. The characters are cool and I really like the light ...
