The importance of species
With regard to whether or not AF would be the same if the species of the characters were mixed up, am I the only one who's noticed that the characters at the center of society are all domesticated species -- rabbits, dogs, cats -- while the ones at the fringe are all wild -- badgers, foxes? And here...

And they were torn down, which would have been faster -- and made more noise -- than if they were taken down carefully. Whoever did this (1) was not afraid of being heard at that moment (2) was operating under an extreme time limitation (3) was likely unable to be meticulous about getting every copy...

What's been happening
As to the willys full of clowns and other oddities for the last two weeks, I assumed they were intended to show that Tristan doesn't react much to anything. Except that object in the antiques store.

Serendipity
By a curious coincidence, I heard McGonagall's "The Railway Bridge o'er the Silvery Tey" read on National Public Radio here in the states just a couple of weeks before his name appeared in the strip. I'm sure this means something, but I'm not quite sure what.
