Buckytubes are still carbon, and the mid-oceanic ridge is still lava. When can I expect my consulting pay? Isn't diamond a terrific conductor of heat? Maybe grown diamonds running from the tunnel up to seawater would keep the tunnel below trouble temperature. They'd be in some kind of intermediate ...

However, the tunnel technology is a bit more advanced than the current Tunnel Boring Machines that can install prefab sections of concrete liners behind them as they drill. The TBM grows the tunnel as it goes, leaving a cylindrical trail of buckytubes behind it. To go across a continental plate lin...

Boreing problem
I noticed two slight complications on the map display Jack was showing Galore. One was the fact that they'll be drilling a longer route than needed, the second was that they'll be drilling right though an active volcanic region. First the route, take some string and a roll of tape with you to the li...

If Levelhead is willing to supply the Poser figures in .obj format that is. I think you mean Little Dragon. He's the Wizard of Pozer. :) Would love to see what he and Batty could come up with! :D Scott Memo to self, go with first instincts. I put Little Dragon in in the first place, but I second gu...

But ! can't draw. And I still don't know how to do a character. batty If you mean a character in POV/Moray, I've got a program that will help. It lets you do a character in Poser and translate it into POV-ray and Moray formats as a Mesh2 object. If Levelhead is willing to supply the Poser figures i...

The first one was trying to read a forum message and the second one was trying to write a forum message. They're gone now (but the board is downloading real slow). And they're back. The following two came from trying to read this thread and trying to respond to this thread. I added a space between ...

One question? Given the relative hardness of diamond, isn't it difficult to carve the diamond into the shapes needed for certain functions? Forgive me if I sound somewhat dense when I ask, but how would one go about making the synthetic diamonds in this time-period, as it would be difficult to mass...

Time Enough for Love
Out of curiosity, friend White Pony—have you read "Time Enough For Love"? To the extent that a human story can resonate with yours, that one does. No, I have never heard of this book, "Time Enough For Love." Maybe it's wise that I not know so that it won't enfluence my work. :) It's science fiction...

Re: Movies and DVD
Also a personal peeve. Why isn't there an option on the movie menus to play the movie with the 'cut' scenes added rather than having to view them seperately. Two guesses. One: The movie, as released, is a copyright work and additions to it would cloud copyright protection issues, already sensitive ...

Okay, how is Paux Pas getting votes anyway? I want to vote for them daily, but I can't even find the voting button anymore. I've scoured the site and it's just gone. So now I want to know how they get more votes a day without even having a voting button...? Allow me to quote myself: Since It was be...
