The name "Xe...", aw heck, I'm not even gonna try to spell it. :D Anyway, "Cheetotrees" is a strongly-Greek sounding name (I had an uncle with a similar name, though I'll be damned if I can remember how it was correctly pronounced- I think you had to deliberately sprain your tongue to say it right.)...

Well, without delving into artists'time or interest, there's two ways to do it: A, have the shirts printed by a supplier and sell them, or B, set up something like a Cafepress account. Cafepress is easy, quick, and takes away all the worries of handling the shirts, money, sales and customer support....

It's not just you, I think it's Keenspot in general. I saw similar blurps of gobbledeygook in Untitled , 21st Century Fox and Schlock Mercenary as well. Someone once told me, many years ago, what that was- As I vaguely recall, it was something about the system wasn't properly converting from it's "b...

I believe it was Mort Walker who first itemized and named many of the comic strip conventions- sweat droplets, for example, which he dubbed "plewds". The little dust clouds from fast motion, movement lines indicating a moving object, the "smoke from the ears" depiction of anger... Some strips use th...

Good luck with that, but don't expect much. Lighting will be problematical at best, and you'll very likely wind up with light and dark spots, or at least inconsistent lighting from point to point. Color will also be a problem, but if you can get the lighting down, that's correctable in a good graphi...

Trust me when I say it's not easy to come up with a joke or gag that somebody hasn't already done somewhere . This particular gag "got" me, as it did, I'm sure, most others, simply because we're so used to seeing "thought bubbles" in comic strips. I admit I had to double-take it a bit, as my first t...

Noa , I don't presume to speak for all nontheists, nor do I expect to "win points". What I would like, however, is a fair, reasoned, logical debate. Throw out the straw men, drop the character attacks, and argue point-on-point, as all good debates should be. Arguments are good for you- the mind is ...

Ah, Ralphie m'boy, such a loud declaration that the kettle is, indeed, black. Heh. Nothing in the universe so self-righteous as an atheist... -Which preceeds ten paragraphs of self-righteousness. "You, without God, are immoral scum." That's not self-righteous? You hypocrite . Can you even see your p...

Well, linked to a central computer, anyway. Much like an offices' IT setup, the individual systems have their own capabilties, but are or can be linked with the network for data comparison and feedback. And there's "going wild" with bad or corrupted "read only" programming, and "going wild" with a f...

I'm reminded of the old Naked Gun movie with Leslie Neilsen. The female lead is over visiting, and during a wholly pointless conversation. she's poking through Drebin's fridge. She picks up a chinese take-out container and says something like "Wang's? I thought they closed down three years ago." Fra...

An excellent article Archae - I've read essentially the same thing many times before, but this one reduced it nicely to a more palatable set of "sound bites" for those, shall we say, less inclined to read it. Like this, at the end: They do not even make real attempts to reconcile their disparate ide...

I have to agree with Kinsfire's puzzled emoticon here. The Moon's gravity (as well as centripetal force and the Sun's gravity) cause the tides, not the other way around. The "drag" of the gravitational attraction is in fact slowing the Moon's orbit, just as the Earth's orbit and rate of spin slow in...

... And then I realized, I don't have any flour.
Have you been peeking into my kitchen? If so, please note that my fuzzy unidentifiable thing squeaks lightly when you bap it with a spoon.

Odds are funny things. Just today, I was cleaning the shop, I'd been in there for hours. Junk strewn from stem to stern. Radio blaring in the background to give me some company. I was tossing some boxes into the trash, tearing them up first to make more room. I reached down and picked up an empty sh...

I'm not aware of the car company situation you mention, but being lightly familiar with that sort of embedded controller system, the anlogy doesn't work. The "robots" building cars and assembling chassis are not "aware", in the classic HAL sense. They're no more "aware" than your desktop PC- in fact...

What is the definition of the word "Supernatural?" -Except that then, we are no longer "made in his image", are we? We cannot snap our fingers and cause entire universes to appear, we cannot transcend space and time. So that part of the Bible is wrong. That which is outside the laws of nature. -Ah,...

Still, believing in evolution is much safer. It leaves yourself as the pinnacle of creation, and eliminates the possibility of an author to answer to..... Odd, that's not how I see it. You imply an arrogance, 'I am the pinnacle of all creation', in the nonbeliever. Yet, as a believer, you have the ...

Well, Junior, not to be rude, but is that an Aria I hear? Your statements concerning Entropy and the laws of thermodynamics sound like they came straight from a Chick tract. "Several" laws? There's only three that I know of. Which law is broken and just how, precisely? And, as usual, a theist uses a...
